Synopsis:
This self-study deals with the review of how children who are exposed to two different languages may display different learning and language styles that conform to typical language development within this population. We will review accurate information therapists may impart to parents who often struggle with understanding how to support their children and how to recognize a language difference from a language problem.

Self-Study Objectives:
The objective of this self-study is to review strategies inclusive of cooperative learning as a modicum of provision of instructional support for this population.

1. Identify distinguishing characteristics of young second and dual language learners.
2. Apply innovative ways of establishing necessary rapport with the parents of these children
3. Demonstrate how to recognize symptoms of second language learning in young children
